LOVED UP

Whilst at Space Ape I worked on loads of projects, but the main one (which was sadly never released) was a dating-sim puzzle game called Loved Up. I was immensely proud of this game and the hard work the team put into it – after 2 years I’d written over 200,000 words for it – that’s half of The Lord of the Rings! It had a branching choice narrative, lots of sexy characters to fall in love with (the art was just stunning) and on top of that there was a big fat mystery plot to hook you in.

There were a lot of challenges with this game, but the main one was creating characters that players could imagine themselves falling in love with. It required a lot of trial and error, and a lot of research – I basically spent 2 years watching Meg Ryan movies. My Netflix algorithm has never been quite the same.
