This was an absolutely wonderful experience for me. I got to create characters and storylines for the Harry Potter universe and work with some impressive teams - at Warner Bros and Mediatonic. We worked very much like a TV writers room, coming up with fabulous magical storylines together. I generally took the lead in planning out the episode/case plots - making them fit with the very specific hidden object gameplay - and then a wider writing team would share dialogue duties. The game was made in about six months of insane workloads, and we were massively proud of the end result. Also, we used members of the team as characters - so I am actually in this game - as a gay squib character who works in a joke shop. I don't want to say I was typecast...
The main challenge with this project was the IP. We wanted to only reference and use items, spells and concepts which already existed in The Wizarding World. So everything (spells, magical items, potions, even items of clothing) had to be fully researched and referenced in the Harry Potter books. I have never been more grateful for Fandom wikis.
